NCAA Game Summary - Detroit At Illinois-Chicago

Chicago, IL -- Rulon Harris netted 11 points to pace the
Detroit Titans in a 56-48 Horizon League victory over the Illinois-Chicago
Flames at the UIC Pavilion. James Thues added 10 points for Detroit (7-4, 1-0 HL), which has won three of
its last four outings. Ryvon Covile pulled down 10 rebounds, as he guided the
Titans to a 40-30 edge on the glass. Armond Williams tallied a game-high 19 points along with five boards, but
Illinois-Chicago (9-5, 0-2) dropped its third consecutive game. Martell Bailey
dished out eight assists for the Flames, but missed all six of his shots from
the field on a poor-shooting day for both squads. Detroit took an early 12-6 edge in the contest and were clinging to a 14-11
lead midway through the first half before UIC made its move. The Flames
grabbed the momentum with a 12-2 run and entered the break with a 26-23
advantage. UIC shot just 5-of-17 (29.4 percent) from the floor in the second half, as the
Flames watched their lead slip away to Detroit. The Titans connected on 34.6
percent from the field in the frame and drained 14-of-16 from the free-throw
line to propel them to the eight-point win. Detroit won despite shooting just 31 percent from the floor, while UIC
finished at 37.8 percent for UIC. Detroit's rebounding prowess led the team to
a 21-6 advantage in second-chance points. The Titans also enjoyed a 20-11 edge
in points off turnovers, as the Flames committed 19 miscues on the afternoon.
