Professor Wrestling: The 'Hard Justice' Recap

Sting, Jarrett Lock Up For NWA Gold

Listen up!

Class is in session.

This time around, the spotlight is on Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and its "Hard Justice" pay-per-view held Sunday night. In the main event, it was Jeff Jarrett putting up the NWA title against the man named Sting. More on that later, but first, the rest of the card:

Challenge Match: Brother Runt vs. Abyss
What Should Happen: It's the mouse versus the monster. Runt, who you know as Spike Dudley, should get the win here just for something different -- but that would really look bad for Abyss and his fantastic manager, James Mitchell.

What Will Happen: You have to go with Abyss in this mismatch.

What Did Happen: Abyss took it.

Challenge Match: Kevin Nash vs. Chris Sabin
What Should Happen: The winner gets an X-Division title shot. Is there anyone on Earth who doesn't think Nash will win? That's where all of his involvement in this division is leading. I just hope TNA has enough sense for Nash to lose in his inevitable title tilt, to prove that big men shouldn't always be at the top of the card.

What Will Happen: Bet the farm on Nash.

What Did Happen: I should have said, "Bet the farm on Nash being injured and not wrestling." That's what happened, as Sabin took on Alex Shelly instead, and won.

X-Division Title Match: Senshi (c) vs. Petey Williams vs. Jay Lethal
What Should Happen: Petey Williams is clearly the better athlete here, in my humble opinion. I'd have him carry this belt for a bit. But it's unlikely to happen because Senshi's reign is relatively fresh.

What Will Happen: Senshi will retain.

What Will Happen: Senshi kicked Williams out of the way to pin Lethal.

Challenge Match: The James Gang vs. The Naturals vs. Matt Bentley and Kazarian vs. America's Most Wanted
What Should Happen: This is a tag-team bout, and a winner gets a shot at the NWA tag titles. It looks like The Naturals are getting the push here, which is fine with me.

What Will Happen: The Naturals will take it.

What Did Happen: This match was cancelled due to time constraints. Early in the show, a small fire broke out at the Orlando studio, and the arena had to be cleared out. That ate up show time. It also means I didn't get this one wrong.

Falls Count Anywhere Match: Samoa Joe vs. Rhino vs. Monty Brown
What Should Happen: In this monster mash, I like Rhino. Here's why: In a three-way match, Joe doesn't look bad if he doesn't get pinned. Rhino needs to get something going, as his character can get pretty stale.

What Will Happen: Rhino pins Brown.

What Did Happen: Joe got the pin, putting The Alpha Male through a table.

NWA Tag Team Title Match: A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels (c) vs. the Latin American Exchange
What Should Happen: Styles and Daniels, like Samoa Joe, should spend some time in TNA's heavyweight division. That's why I would have them lose this match to the heels, Konnan's LAX.

What Will Happen: I think LAX will get the win.

What Did Happen: Styles and Daniels got the victory, keeping the belts. Huh. No title changes so far. That means Jarrett is losing in the main event!

NWA Heavyweight Title Match: Jeff Jarrett (c) vs. Sting
What Should Happen: Sting should win, but I'm predicting more will happen. Scott Steiner, in Jarrett's corner, will turn babyface -- and Christian Cage, in Sting's corner, will turn heel. I just have a feeling that'll come to pass. At least, that's how I would write it.

What Will Happen: Sting takes the NWA gold.

What Did Happen: Christian turned on Sting, hitting him with Jarrett's guitar. Jarrett got the pin, and the win.

Aaaargh! Sting should have taken the belt, with the inevitable Christian heel turn coming afterwards. I'm glad Cage is a bad guy now, though. He's much better as a snarky slimeball. For the record, I was two for six in my predictions this time around. I've done better, but when you do the math, I'm still batting .300. And that still gets me in the baseball Hall of Fame.

Next week: WWE SummerSlam, featuring Mick Foley vs. Ric Flair! Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Now scram.

Class dismissed!
