In four days over two weekends, the student in this class will construct a high-quality Appalachian dulcimer from select solid woods. Because the instrument lends itself to a variety of forms and materials, no two instruments will look or sound alike. These are not kits. The instructor will bring materials cut to dimension, but not shaped. Students will have a selection of woods from which to choose, and will further customize their instruments with several design options: exact dimensions of the instrument, hourglass or teardrop shape, three or four (or five) strings, and the design of the sound holes and the tuning head. Full Days - Saturday & Sunday April 13th & 14th, 20th & 21st - 8:30AM-5:00PM
