Pleasant Hill Elementary School
Going Green-Schools-Edison-Pleasant Hill Elementary SchoolPleasant Hill Elementary School has been recycling for four years and won a local and national recycling contest last year. Wal-Mart will be giving the school a $1,000 gift certificate. The school also received a recycling grant from Wal-Mart two years ago. The $500 grant was used to purchase recycling containers for each classroom and a large can receptacle with a can crusher. The school collects all paper, plastics, cans, glass, cell phones, and ink cartridges. These collections not only teach the students about saving the environment, they also serve as a fund-raiser. The fourth grade students have a recycling club, in which students take turns each morning collecting recyclable paper from the classrooms.
