BELLAIRE, Ohio -- Going Green Schools – Bellaire Local Schools-Bellaire Elementary School
Bellaire Elementary School’s fourth-grade students formed a group they call “The Green Team” and submitted a proposal to the principal for a paper recycling program. The principal approved the proposal. The students painted and decorated boxes discarded by the cafeteria and distributed the “Go Green” boxes to participating classrooms. Students are asked to place all paper in the box that would previously have gone into the trash can.The Green Team members collect the paper from each room once a week and the collected paper is taken to the Recycling Center by a staff member. The money earned from the recycled paper is donated to Missionaries in Third World Countries, thus enabling the Green Team’s efforts to benefit not only the country and the environment but also people in other countries.
