BRILLIANT, Ohio -- The Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District is running a pilot program with seventh-grade students at Buckeye North Middle School.The program involves a field day that will cover issues concerning water and soil conservation with a focus on the Ohio Content Standards for the Ohio Achievement Test the students will take in May.The program will include map reading, water quality issues addressed at the soil pit and forestry station, agricultural economics, cultural influences on agriculture and the influence of advertising on agriculture.The field day will cover conservation practices in agriculture and tie in the disciplines of mathematics, reading, social studies, science and language arts.
