BELLAIRE, Ohio -- The students of Bellaire Elementary School are so excited about going green they came up with a song "It's easy being green."It’s a catchy tune in fact it sounded like a number from a Broadway play. These were voices filled with environmental enthusiasm. The green movement came from two students Lexee and Brennon. They came up with the idea after reading a book titled “Kid Heroes.” They wrote Principal Charles Tucker a letter requesting a box to be placed in every classroom at Bellaire Elementary School.Students and teachers could throw paper in the box to be recycled. Lexee and Brennon volunteered to collect the paper once a week, which meant missing recess. The efforts of Lexee and Brennon did not go unnoticed; others wanted to help, so they formed the Green Team. Other members of the Green Team include Mark, Austin, Tyler, Cameron, and Jacob. The Green Team gives up their recess time every Friday to collect paper from the classrooms and place it in a teachers van. The paper is transported north to St Mark’s Lutheran Church in Steubenville. The money obtained from recycling the paper gets sent to missionaries. The Going Green team learns the 4 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Responsibility.
