Going Green Schools-Buckeye Local -West Elementary School
West Elementary School in Adena recycles paper and plastic bottles.The students have recycled 110,248 pounds of paper since August 1996.Each classroom is equipped with a recycling box that is emptied twice a week.Friends and neighbors are asked to send in their old newspapers, magazines, catalogs and even junk mail to help with the effort, officials said.The school earns three cents a pound for each pound recycled.Teams of second-graders give up their recess each day to collect milk jugs during lunch and rinse them out.
