Library Offers Reusable Bags
The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is going green by offering reusable bags to customers at library branches. The bags are available for a donation of $4 on the Bookmobile, at the library branches located in Adena, Brilliant, Dillonvale, Tiltonsville, Toronto, and at the Schiappa and main locations in Steubenville.Customers can use the canvas bags to carry library goods to and from visits thanks to the green idea of branch manager Karen Merritt. She said she got the idea from watching a segment on the “Today Show," which focused on ways to going green and mentioned that stores were selling reusable bags.“It gave me the idea about the library selling bags that patrons can reuse when visiting their local library,” said Merritt. The bags show three ideas on how to go green that can be found in the book “Going Green: A Kids Handbook to Saving the Planet" by John Elkington, Julia Hailes, Douglas Hill, and Joel Makower.
