Ohio County Residents Encouraged To Recycle Electronics

Wednesday, August 13, 2008 – updated: 3:29 pm EDT August 13, 2008

Ohio County Solid Waste Authority will sponsor free E-cycling -- or electronics recycling -- for all Ohio County residents.

The even will take place on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the City of Wheeling Operations Center.

Event coordinators said computers, televisions, and other electronic equipment contain toxic materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium.

If not handled properly, these toxic substances can be released into the environment through incineration or landfill leachate.

Residents are invited to come to the event to recycle unwanted televisions, computers, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, and more. For more information, call 304-234-3884.

Directions to the City of Wheeling Operations Center: Off of I-70, take Exit 2B, and then turn right onto Hunter Avenue
