PITTSBURGH -- Television station WPXI has been watching the trend of people having staples put in their ears to lose weight, and following up to see if it works.Robin Gibson and her company, Acu-Staple, have had so many requests that Gibson had to teach others the process to keep up with demand.Maxine Bateman got her ear stapled to try something new.The station met Bateman four weeks ago at an Acu-Staple session at a hotel.Bateman and dozens of others who saw an earlier news report wanted to give it a try. After four weeks, Bateman said, she lost 2 pounds, but not the cravings.Out of the 10 people the station followed over eight weeks, six people said the staple worked at helping them lose weight, and four people said it did not.John and Joy Hulboy are on opposite sides of that equation.Four weeks ago they went to the session. Joy Hulboy lost nearly 4 pounds, but she's hit a plateau and is now exercising to try to lose more.John Hulboy, on the other hand, said the staple did little to decrease his appetite.Tom Magdalene and Leanne Feno-Glietto told entirely different stories.Feno-Glietto went to the very first Acu-Staple session eight weeks ago. She quickly dropped 11 pounds. The staple cut Magdalene's cravings and he was able to lose 16 pounds, she said.More Info:
