2.22.14 Video Highlights - Claymont Dominates Division II District Wrestling Action

Claymont is sending 11 wrestlers to the Ohio Division II state wrestling tournament in Columbus after cruising to the district title in its home gym.


The Mustangs scored 279.5 points, breaking a school record for district points. The Mustangs previous best was 217.5 in 1991. The 11 state qualifiers also breaks a school record from 1991 when they sent eight.


Claymont had five district champions: Tyler Warner, Dustin Warner, Kollin Clark, Cody Burcher and Colt Crall.


Steubenville had one district champion. Sophomore Tariq Wilson won at 113 pounds. Big Red was district runner up with 87 points, while Carrollton was half a point back in third.


The OVAC had no district champions in Division III action at Heath, but ten wrestlers did advance to the state meet.
