Madonna's Comis Takes Home Top Honor At Belmont Savings Bank High School Football Awards

Madonna senior quarterback Ross Comis won the Belmont Savings Bank Big 22 Player of the Year award to cap Thursday night's festivities at Oglebay's Glessner Auditorium in Wheeling.


Comis rushed for more than 2,000 yards and 35 touchdowns, while passing for more than 1,700 yards and 22 scores.


Joining Comis on stage as finalists for the award were New Philadelphia's Jamal Johnson, St. Clairsville's Jaylon Brown, Steubenville Central's Brenton Colabella and Bellaire's Spencer Badia.  All are seniors.


Wheeling Park senior Geremy Paige took home the WTOV9 Defensive Player of the Year. He also recently won the Huff Award as West Virginia's top defensive player.


St. Clairsville senior kicker is the Wintersville Trophy Shop Special Teams Player of the Year.


Ten lineman were honored as the Belmont Savings Bank Blocks of Granite. They winners are as follows:

The Wheeling Hospital Coaches of the Year were also honored Thursday night.

The IBEW Electrifying Play of the Year determined by fan voting went to Steubenville's Bryan Pierro for his catch vs. Licking Valley in the postseason.
