Murray Transfers, Petteway Suffers Season Ending Injury

Updated: Thursday, August 29 2013, 04:44 PM EDT

A pair of fomer Steubenville Big Red football standouts will be sitting out this season due to different reasons.

Najee Murray has transferred from Ohio State to Kent State. The sophomore defensive back will have three years of eligibility after sitting out this season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Murray was serving an indefinite suspension at Ohio State for what head coach Urban Meyer called a "training camp issue." Murray played in six games at OSU before suffering a season ending knee injury last season.

A knee injury is what will keep former Big Red star Shaq Petteway off the field this season at West Virginia.

Petteway tore his ACL during practice August 17th and will undergo surgery later this week.

The junior linebacker registered 42 tackles last season and appeared in all 13 WVU games.

He'll take his redshirt this season and have two years of eligibility remaining.
