Shadyside's Dorris Commits To Indiana Football Program

Updated: Thursday, June 26 2014, 10:23 PM EDT

Shadyside rising senior Austin Dorris has given a verbal commitment to the Indiana University football program.

Dorris has been recruited as a tight end while playing quarterback for his high school squad.

Last season Dorris accounted for more than 2,000 yards of offense and 21 touchdowns for the Tigers.

Dorris also held Division I offers from Ohio University, Marshall, Toledo, Kent State, Western Michigan, Air Force, Miami (OH), Colgate, Fordham and Youngstown State.

He'll be the third Belmont County football player to join a Big Ten program in the past couple of years.  St. Clairsville's Dan Monteroso will be a sophomore at Purdue and St. Clairsville's Michael Ferns is a freshman at Michigan.

The last Shadyside Tiger to commit to a Division I football program since quarterback Brad Lewis went to WVU in the late 1990's.
