St. Clairsville's Monteroso Suffers Tough Break At Purdue

Updated: Monday, August 26 2013, 02:47 AM EDT

Former St. Clairsville star Dan Monteroso is scheduled to undergo surgery on Saturday after breaking his collarbone at Purdue Unversity football practice Thursday night.

First year head coach Darrell Hazell confirmed the news with the media in West Lafayette on Friday morning.

Monteroso is a true freshman wide receiver with the Boilermakers. He appeared to be pushing for playing time this season after having a strong fall camp so far in August.

Monteroso was an All-Ohioan for the Red Devils' state runner-up team in 2012.

He was also named the Belmont Savings Bank-WTOV9 High School football player of the year in December.
