Steubenville City Schools will soon have a new 75,000 square-foot multipurpose building that includes batting cages, a wrestling room and indoor turf.

Superintendent Mike McVey said the facility will be used for many different activities. The building will be used for gym classes and after-school activities.

"The band will be able to practice here. We'll be able to do softball and baseball practice … in here with the three batting cages," McVey said.

The facility cost around $600,000 and was paid for with money left over from the Ohio School Facility Commission. McVey said the building should be in use by next week.

Thursday, the district will have a public dedication ceremony followed by an open house.
