The Brooke Bruins punched a ticket to the West Virginia Class AAA state title game for the first time since 1992 by defeating University 32-15 on Saturday evening at Brooke Memorial Stadium.

The top-ranked and undefeated Bruins jumped on the 13 seed Hawks early. The Bruins held a 20 point lead in the first quarter before University ever dented the scoreboard.

Senior quarterback Cotey Wallace continued his stellar season, passing for 195 yards and 3 touchdowns to Joe DiNardo. He rushed for 94 more yards and now has more than 1,000 rushing and 2,000 yards passing in 2009.

The Brooke defense forced six turnovers, as the Bruins picked up their second win of the season against University to improve to 13-0.

The win puts first-year head coach Tom Bruney's squad in the Class AAA championship game opposite of defending champ South Charleston Saturday at noon at Wheeling Island Stadium.

Brooke will be aiming for their fourth state title, to go along with those in 1985, 1987 and 1990.

Weirton Madonna also won a state title in 1987 and will join Brooke in Wheeling Saturday for the Class A state title game.

Top seeded and undefeated Madonna will face two seed Man in the championship, Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Blue Dons knocked off Wheeling Central 18-7 Friday night at Jimmy Carey Stadium.

Senior quarterback Max Nogay rushed for 135 yards and two scores, while throwing for one - to junior wide out Connor Arlia.
