Dodgers Activate Wade, Designate Sturtze

Thursday, August 28, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Dodgers activated pitcher Cory Wade from the 15-day disabled list and designated pitcher Tanyon Sturtze for assignment Thursday.

Wade was 2-1 with a 2.56 earned run average in 40 appearances this season before going on the DL August 14 with right shoulder inflammation.

Sturtze hurled 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the Dodgers after his contract was purchased from Triple-A Las Vegas on August 14. The 37-year-old last pitched in the majors in 2006 for the New York Yankees before his recent stint in Los Angeles.
