Sixers Sign Donyell MarshallTuesday, September 2, 2008 Philadelphia, PA -- (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia 76ers added veteran free-agent forward Donyell Marshall on Tuesday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed."Donyell Marshall has proven time and time again his value as a player in this league," said Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski. "We believe his ability to stretch defenses with his perimeter shooting will prove to be a great asset for our team and we look forward to having him back home in Philadelphia." The 35-year-old Marshall, who was born in nearby Reading, Pennsylvania, averaged 3.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game last season, which he split between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Seattle SuperSonics. The 6-foot-9, 245- pound Connecticut product, drafted fourth overall in 1994 by Minnesota, has averaged 11.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game over 13 seasons with the Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, Cavaliers and Sonics. Marshall will also add playoff experience to the young Sixers. He has averaged 7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 41 career postseason contests. Marshall started last season with Cleveland before being packaged in a three- team trade to Seattle in February. Seattle, now Oklahoma City, waived Marshall on August 20. His acquisition likely caps a busy offseason for the Sixers, who added power forward Elton Brand, and re-signed swingman Andre Iguodala and guard Lou Williams.
