Chalmers, Arthur Reportedly Caught With Marijuana

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

(Sports Network) - Former Kansas players Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur were reportedly dismissed from the NBA's rookie transition program.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reported league officials discovered evidence of marijuana use in the New York-area hotel room of Arthur and Chalmers, who were members of Kansas' NCAA championship team last season.

The two will reportedly be fined at least $20,000 and suspensions could also be on the table. They will also likely have to repeat the mandatory four-day seminar, which addresses a variety of issues to transition rookies into the league.

Chalmers was drafted by Minnesota and was then traded to Miami. Arthur eventually landed in Memphis following deals through several teams.
