Sports Channels | Mayo Wakes Up In Fourth Quarter To Lead Grizzlies Over RaptorsPosted: 10:54 pm EST February 7,2009 Memphis, TN -- (Sports Network) - O.J. Mayo had 16 points -- 12 coming in the fourth quarter -- and eight rebounds to lead the Grizzlies in a 78-70 victory over the Raptors, sending Toronto to its sixth consecutive defeat.Hakim Warrick also added 16 points and eight boards for Memphis, which has won three of four overall. Mike Conley chipped in 15 points and eight assists in the win. Jose Calderon poured in 18 points and five helpers for Toronto, which had defeated Memphis four straight times coming in. Joey Graham ended with 14 points and Jason Kapono 12 in defeat; all of Kapono's points came in the fourth quarter. Toronto played without All-Star forward Chris Bosh, who sat because of a sprained right knee suffered in Wednesday's loss to the Lakers. Down by six late in the game, Kapono drained a three from the right elbow to bring the Raptors within 73-70 with 48.3 ticks left. Mayo, though, answered with a three of his own from the right wing with 25.7 seconds left to again make it a six-point affair. Toronto failed to get a decent shot of on its next possession, and the home team held on for the win. The Raptors were up 21-18 after the first quarter but fell behind the Grizzlies, 43-35, heading into the intermission. Two free throws from Warrick and a dunk by Marc Gasol opened a 50-37 Memphis lead with 7:43 left in the third quarter. Moments later, four points from Calderon cut it to 58-51, and the Raptors trailed 60-55 heading to the final frame. Andrea Bargnani's free throw and Kapono's two three-pointers gave the Raptors a 62-60 lead with 9:19 left in regulation. Mayo then poured in nine straight points and Gasol added a layup over the next 4 1/2 minutes to balloon the Grizzlies' lead to 71-62 with 3:48 left in the contest. Moments later, Kapono's three-pointer cut it to six points. Game Notes Toronto shot a measly 29.5 percent from the field, whereas Memphis hit 38.5 percent of its shots...The Grizzlies outrebounded the Raptors, 53-45...The Raptors resumed a three-game road trip and are 0-2 on it so far. The Raptors, who will also visit Minnesota, are 10-19 away from Canada this season...The Raptors are last in the Atlantic Division...Memphis continued a four-game homestand Saturday and are 2-1 on it...The Grizzlies, who sit last in the Southwest standings, will also host the Hornets. They own an 11-18 ledger at home this season...Toronto defeated Memphis, 103-82, on January 9 this season at Air Canada Centre. The Raptors have lost six of their last eight visits to Memphis.
