Visitation restrictions have been lifted at two nursing homes plagued for weeks by the norovirus. The restrictions were lifted Friday morning at Peterson Rehabilitation Center and at Wheeling Hospital's Continuous Care.Wheeling Hospital Health Director Dr. William Mercer said he authorized lifting the restrictions because no new cases were reported in the last 48 hours.Peterson officials said the second floor restriction was lifted, but restrictions on the first floor will remain in place because there are still four active norovirus cases.More than 130 people were sickened during the outbreak which started in early December.Mercer said more dangerous illnesses could be on the way."Influenza is coming. That could be the next that comes and that will be worse. So if anybody learned anything from this, it's get your flu shots," Mercer said.-Renee Cardelli & John Paul, NEWS9
