Undocumented Immigrants Working In Ohio County

Posted: 11:32 am EST March 8, 2007Updated: 6:42 pm EST March 8, 2007

Three suspected illegal immigrants were taken into custody in Ohio County.

Officials said the three men were employed by Prestige Maintenance USA, a contract company, and were cleaning the Target store at the Highlands after hours.

Deputies said they initially went to the store to meet with five other men who are suspected illegal immigrants.

Police said those men were not at the store, but their identities are known, and officials are investigating their immigration status.

The three men who were apprehended had Guatemalan passports but did not have visas.

Ohio County Sheriff Tom Burgoyne said investigators believe the men "had paid someone $2,000 to drive them from the western portion of our country to Washington County, Pa. They were making $7 an hour."

The three will be transported to Pittsburgh by immigration officials.
