Man Wearing Only Underwear Accused Of Vandalizing Post Office

Police said a man wearing only his underwear smashed the window of a local post office.

Christopher Henthorne, who police said was wearing just boxer shorts and socks at the time of his arrest, is accused of pounding on an interior lobby window inside the South Wheeling post office until the glass shattered.

Wheeling police said Henthorne walked into the post office lobby just before 4 a.m. Friday and began beating the thick glass with an unknown object.

When police responded, Henthorne smelled like alcohol , police said. Henthorne told police he was confused and didn't know why he was being arrested.

Postal workers said the incident was bizarre and scary.

"They heard a disturbance in the lobby and as they approached to come out and investigate. They heard some ... glass breaking and they immediately called police," said Randy Link, post office supervisor.

Henthorne was being held in the Northern Regional Jail on misdemeanor charges of destruction of property and public intoxication.

Police said he had not been arraigned as of noon Friday because he was too intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
