More Than $400,000 Withdrawn From Murder Victim's Accounts

NEWS9 obtained the six-page search warrant from Franklin County Court. It reveals that John Roberts Sr. withdrew more than $484,000 from “various financial sources” on Jan. 25, 2007. But Roberts' immediate family hadn't heard from him since December 2006.

His body turned up on Saturday in a trash can behind a home in Mt. Pleasant. Police arrested Jeremy Hill in Columbus on Sunday, and arrested John Roberts-McKinney, Roberts’ nephew, in Effingham, Ill., on Tuesday.

A search warrant authorized police to search a home in Columbus for weapons, clothing or currency that may be evidence of an aggravated murder. Police said they confiscated a computer, a lock-box, cell phones, disposable cameras, miscellaneous papers and receipts and a floppy disk.

Also, according to the warrant, Roberts-McKinney was at the home on South Ray Road in St. Clairsville, where police said the murder may have been committed.

The document stated he was cleaning the home. Police later found blood-spattered carpeting at the house.

The warrant also said both suspects were familiar with the area where the body was found. No murder charges have been filed against either suspect, they are both being held on tampering with evidence charges.
