Illegal Immigrants Caught In The Valley In Jail

Posted: 12:32 pm EDT May 16, 2007Updated: 12:55 pm EDT May 16, 2007

Four illegal immigrants are in the Northern Regional Jail after police said they admitted to being in the United States illegally.

Wheeling police arrested the men Tuesday morning and said they were working as bricklayers, building the Cheddars Restaurant at the Highlands in Ohio County.

The contractor said all four had identification which turned out to be fake. The West Virginia State Building Trades is asking the county commission to do something about it and adopt a permit process.

"I consider it growing pains, and one of the ways to help is implement some kind of process where they can keep a paper trail on these people," said Walter LaRue, Fair Contracting representative.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents have been notified.
