The Jefferson County prosecutor has filed charges against a man suspected of beating a puppy to death during a robbery.

Neil Rager is charged with killing a dog, breaking and entering, and receiving stolen property.

The investigation began three weeks ago when a Bloomingdale man came home to find his brand-new ATV missing from the garage and his beagle puppy lying beaten to death near his doghouse.

Deputies also arrested a 17-year-old high school student in connection with the case.
