Small Fire Damages Temporary Casino

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. -- A small fire caused about $30,000 worth of damage on the roof of the temporary casino at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Washington County, Pa.Authorities did not immediately say what caused the fire at the building.The building will house more than 17,000 slot machines, a buffet, snack and sports bars.Fire officials said the fire was reported about 10 Thursday night.The casino could be a direct competitor to Wheeling Island Racetrack and Gaming Center, which gets 60 percent of its customers from the area The Meadows will serve.
