Sheriff: Illegal Aliens In Valley Growing Problem

Ohio County deputies recently detained six suspected illegal aliens, bringing the number of suspected illegals in the county to 106 in less than two years.

Sheriff Tom Burgoyne said he doesn’t see the situation improving unless the government comes up with a plan.

Burgoyne would like to see illegal aliens face charges and spend time in jail, but he said that could cause some dangerous situations.

“If they know they're going to be incarcerated once they're stopped and they're going to start running you're going to see high speed chases on the interstate, we're going to see guys jumping out of cars, running into the woods and those things we don't want to see happen," Burgoyne said.

Burgoyne said his deputies have other things to do besides arrest people who are hard-working and not committing crimes.
