Weirton Native, Pro Football Player Arrested At Wedding Party

Monday, June 18, 2007 – updated: 7:43 pm EDT June 18, 2007

A Weirton native who is now a professional football player was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct during a wedding celebration.

Police said Quincy Wilson, who plays for the Cincinnati Bengals, was part of a wedding party celebrating at the Envy nightclub in Huntington, W.Va., when the incident occurred.

The bride, Tara Hensley, and groom, Carlos Barron, were also arrested in addition to three other members of the wedding party.

Police said the suspects refused to leave the area of the nightclub after officers ordered the crowd to disperse.

Family members said those arrested did nothing wrong and said the arrests were racially motivated. All members of the wedding party were black except the bride, who is white.

Wilson's mom, Kyle Wilson, said she talks to her son every week and he always updates her on what's going on with the team. But when he called her Sunday, she said she was surprised by what she heard.

"He calls and says that he has just gotten out of jail, and I was like 'what?'" Kyle said. "So that was a surprising situation."

Wilson's mom also said that her son shouldn't have been arrested because she is positive that nothing physical took place.

"I know one thing about Quincy, you know, not that he has a halo over his head, but when it comes to authority, or when it comes to listening, or someone else telling you what to do, he pretty much is that type of person," Kyle said.

Police did not comment on the racial allegations. Kyle said that she just wants her son to put this situation behind him.

"Let the truth come out about what really happened," Kyle said. "And let him continue to focus on trying to make the team and trying to make the roster."
