Racetrack Still Looking For Dealers

Wheeling Island Racetrack & Gaming Center is hoping people from the tri-state area, from Steubenville south to new Martinsville and over to Washington, Pa will be the ones to take advantage of the new job opportunities.

Racetrack employees said they are hoping about 200 more people will sign up for table gaming classes.

Employees said participants don't have to have any experience with table games to become a dealer. The classes through West Virginia Northern Community College provide all the necessary training to start a career.

“Just like anyone that goes to college or to school, there's never a guarantee, but we all take chances and it would be a great opportunity for those people to advance their careers in a new field," said Mike Maestle of Wheeling Island Racetrack & Gaming Center.

The racetrack and WVNCC have job fairs scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday at the racetrack from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
