Possible Link Between Pittsburgh Attempted Abduction, Wheeling Abduction?

Friday, July 13, 2007 – updated: 1:36 pm EDT July 13, 2007

Police near Pittsburgh are contacting Wheeling police after Pittsburgh police said a man tried to abducted a girl in the Pittsburgh area. They want to see if it could be linked to the Wheeling abduction, rape and release case earlier this year.

It has been four months since a girl from Wheeling was abducted, raped and later released. On Monday, NEWS9 learned, police in the Pittsburgh are contacting police in the Ohio Valley to see if there is a connection between a man who they said tried to abduct a girl in Elizabeth and the suspect in February’s abduction in Wheeling.

On Monday morning, the accused man, Jason Cseripko, of Clairton, Pa., faced several charges in connection with the attempted abduction in Elizabeth, Pa., three days ago.

According to WTOV’s sister station WPXI in Pittsburgh, a 15-year-old girl told police that a man approached her and began asking her questions and if she wanted to “hook up.” The girl said she took that as a reference that the man wanted to have sex.

The girl went to a nearby fire station where she and an adult said they saw Cseripko circle the area in his Jeep.

Officials in Pittsburgh said they have not had any dealings with Cseripko in the past. However, they will contact Wheeling police to see if he fits the profile of the abduction, rape and release case of a 12-year-old girl in February.
