Tuesday, August 7, 2007
A city prosecutor said he does not believe charges will be filed against a man who attacked his son's killer in the courtroom, but said the issue still remains "under consideration."Mike Sweat attacked Antonio Clifford in Jefferson County Common Pleas Court on Monday. Sweat was transported to the county jail to calm down, but was released once Clifford's sentencing was over.City Prosecutor John Mascio said he spoke with the judge, county prosecutor and sheriff, all of whom were in court at the time and recommended Sweat not face charges. However, Mascio said the issue does remain under consideration. "I think we all know and empathize with him in terms of why he did what he did, but on the other hand, we can't have anarchy in our courts and the order, and integrity of the court has to be reserved," Mascio said.Stay with NEWS9 and WTOV9.com for continuing coverage as details become available.-Renee Cardelli & Natalie Pasquarella, NEWS9
