Police said a 23-year-old man died in an industrial accident in Hancock County early Tuesday.

Ethan Caleb Hart is believed to have been electrocuted at the C.E. Mineral Plant on Kennedy Park Road near state Route 2 around 12:45 a.m.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department is investigating, and Jones said the plant will be working to with Occupational Safety Hazard Association representatives to determine the cause of the accident.

Ken Jones, vice president of the plant, said Hart had worked as a forklift driver at the plant for less than six months.

He was found on the ground by his supervisor and another worker in front of an electrical panel out of his regular work area, Jones said.

He said police and paramedics believe Hart was electrocuted, but officials won't know for sure until an autopsy is performed.

About 35 people work at the plant, which produces different types of minerals that are used in steel mills. Jones said this is the first fatal accident at the plant that he can recall.
