STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- An Amish couple appeared in court Thursday as part of a child custody dispute.Aden and Wilma Troyer are both seeking custody of their children, ages 9 months and 21 months. While the couple pleaded their case to a judge, dozens of people from the Amish community lined the halls. On Wednesday, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department served Wilma Troyer with custody papers with a SWAT team on standby. The incident sparked anger from both the Amish community and Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla.Abdalla said he had received death threats from Wilma Troyer's father, who is also an Amish bishop, and defended his actions.Aden Troyer's attorney, John Mascio, said a judge would have not signed an order to take the children from Wilma Troyer unless it was justified.Wilma Troyer's attorney, Brian Felmet, said he was contesting the judge's order.Stay with NEWS9 and WTOV9.com for continuing coverage.-Renee Cardelli & Allison Latos, NEWS9
