Superintendent Warns Against Student Absence During Teacher Strike
As the second day of the Harrison Hills teachers' strike came to an end on Tuesday, student enrollment dropped again.Several residents in the district called NEWS9 reporting they'd gotten a recorded message from the school board quashing a rumor that absences during the strike would be excused. In that recorded message, Drexler said any absence would count.Superintendent Jim Drexler said 34 percent of students came to class district-wide, down from 35 percent on Monday.Drexler said he expected the low enrollment numbers.Also on Tuesday, the district removed two substitute teachers and another picketer was sent to the hospital.
