Harrison Hills Substitute Teacher Arraigned for Picket Line Incident

The driver involved in the accident at the picket lines Friday morning has been a 7th grade substitute teacher for the past week, according the school resource officer.

Frederick Saunders of Youngstown was arraigned Friday for misdemeanor assault charges.

Karen Hanzle, a sixth-grade teacher was struck while in the teachers’ permitted area for picketing. Hanzle was taken to the hospital by ambulance for minor injuries said the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.

“I had heard that the driver of that car stated that he was not going to stop, and he didn’t, I saw that, he did not stop. He just kept plowing right through the crowd of teachers,” said Jeff Nozer, a witness to the incident.
