Thursday, October 11, 2007 – updated: 7:39 am EDT October 12, 2007

Shortly after 9 Thursday night, the Harrison Hills school board and the Harrison Hills Teachers Association announced they reached a tentative agreement.

The union members met in Cadiz, and voted to suspend the strike.

A union spokesperson told NEWS9 the teachers may vote on the agreement as soon as Friday and could be back in the classroom as early as Monday.

The teachers will head back to the schools on Friday for a teacher work day.

The students, however, have the day off and will return to school on Monday.

Exact details of the new contract are unknown.

The strike in the district has been going on since last Monday. Since then students in the Harrison Hill school district have been taught by substitute teachers.
