Community Reacts To Table Gaming

The big vote for table games in Hancock County came about a month after the vote in Ohio County because of paperwork mix-up, but delayed or not, the games have begun.

Ever since table gaming was debated in the Legislature, it's been a jobs issue, but now that the games are here, the surrounding community is sounding off about the development.

Newell is the closest town to Mountaineer, and for many people heading to the casino, it's a place to stop and fuel up. With poker a reality now, and other games on their way, residents said Hancock County will get a lot busier. Not only will there be more people, but more traffic. Some see that as good and bad.

While some see the traffic as an inconvenience, others said it's the price of progress.
