As the holiday shopping season approaches, Ohio County deputies are warning people about a credit card scheme.Officials said a person claiming to be from a credit card company calls, saying they noticed suspicious charges on an account. The caller says they don't need an account number or any other personal information, but say they need to verify the person has their card and verify the security code on the back. Some local residents said the scheme sounds slick because the company isn't asking for your account number."When someone calls you indicating they're doing an investigation on your behalf, people fall prey to that particular scheme," said Ohio County Chief Deputy Pat Butler. Most residents said they know better than to be tricked by someone over the phone. As with any suspected scheme, deputies said people should call their credit card company before giving out any information over the phone and report the incident to police.-Renee Cardelli & Jasmine Lo, NEWS9
