Teen Recovering From Brutal Bus Stop Beating

Thursday, November 8, 2007 – updated: 7:09 pm EST November 8, 2007

A teen who was beaten with a baseball bat a local bus stop said he believes his attacker was trying to kill him.

The 15-year-old victim, Brent Price, was attacked at a bus stop in Scio Wednesday morning, the Harrison County sheriff said.

A man, 20-year-old Steven Fittro, of Jewett, was arrested and charged with assault.

Price suffered most of his injures on his face. One side of his nose is completely collapsed, and one eye is bruised and swollen shut.

"I can't keep my eyes open. It hurts to keep my eyes open and I can't breathe because of my nose," Price said.

The victim's mother, Gairy Brown, said her son will need at least one surgery to repair his cheekbone and nose.

"I don't think that there's anything they can do that's doing to make up for what he did," Brown said.

Price's girlfriend, Georgianna, said she used to date Fittro.

"Me and Brent started dating and he didn't like it," she said.

She said she and the victim were at a Scio bus stop, sitting together, when the attack happened.

"I get up and all I see is someone jumping over where I was sitting and someone came and hit Brent in the face with a baseball bat," she said.

Georgianna said she tried to stop it.

"My first instinct was to scream, but I just jumped in front of him because he looked like he was going to hit him again," she said.

Authorities said Fittro was not permitted to be around the victim or his girlfriend because of alleged threats to their lives. A protective order on the two teens was issued on Oct. 10.

Fittro remains in jail on $100,000 bond. Stay with NEWS9 and WTOV9.com for continuing coverage.
