WHEELING, W.Va. -- The Wheeling Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign has fallen short of its goal.As for Wednesday morning the nonprofit organization was $4,000 shy of their $60,000 goal.Major Tom Friddle said they need to make goal so they can feed and clothe the less fortunate. As a result, bell-ringers are still posted at spots like Cabella’s and JCPenney at The Highlands. In years past, the bell-ringers would close out the season on Christmas Eve."I’ve already budgeted the $60,000 in my budget so I know I have to have that much, I have to have that amount in order for everything to fit like a glove and to financially work next year,” said Friddle.Friddle said he believes the $60,000 goal will be met by the end of the year.
