WHEELING, W. Va -- With the announcement of mount de Chantal Visitation Academy in Wheeling in too big a financial rut to continue next year, parents are taking action. Some parents are looking for ways to save the financially ailing school. Some are also looking into what might be next for their children."They're looking at seeing what options are available and we've had some parents come down and pick up some brochures from our school," said Bishop Donahue High School Principal Dan Angalich.Private Catholic schools in the area, like Bishop Donahue in McMechen and Linsly School in Wheeling, are in the early stages of looking for ways to help Mount de Chantal.Bishop Donahue invites all prospective students to an annual open house. This year the school will extend the invitation to Mount de Chantal students."If they'd like to have a group of parents and students together and have us come over and make presentations for those interested we'd be happy to do that," said Linsly Assistant Headmaster Terry Depew. No matter how or if other private schools plan to get involved, they seemed to agree on one thing with the closure of the academy."The community will be at a loss because it's not there," said Depew.--Jasmine Lo, NEWS9
