JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- Robert Steve Vukelic is running for one of two open spots on the Jefferson County Commission. But, in order to hold office, he is seeking a pardon from President Bush. That’s because Vukelic was convicted of a felony in 2001."That's something in the past. It's taken a long time to get rid of. It will never go away. Basically I failed to report a crime committed against me," said Vukelic. He spent six months behind bars for a misprision felony. Vukelic would not go into detail about the conviction, but said he will be able to hold office if he gets a pardon from the president, or a judge seals his record. He said he hopes voters look past his record, and vote him into office.“I think people are going to look through that. I think they know what I’ve done for this community," said Vukelic. The primary election is March 4.John Paul, NEWS9
