Thousands Turn Out To Hear Hillary Clinton Speak In St. Clairsville

People began lining up early Wednesday afternoon, standing out in the cold in anticipation of a visit from Hillary Rodham Clinton

Clinton spoke at the St. Clairsville High School gymnasium, which filled up with nearly 2,500 people.

Clinton was orginally scheduled to speak at about 6 p.m., but did not begin until after 7 p.m.

As of noon Wednesday, the Secret Service was at St. Clairsville High School with local police to check in and around school property.

St. Clairsville Police Chief Martin Kendzora said everyone had their game face and was ready to go.

People told NEWS9's Jackie Cain they have two main reasons for being there. They said this moment in time is history in the making and they want to be a part of it.

The other main reason is the issues. Some Ohio Valley residents said they've been watching her all along and she's been heavily criticized for showing up at different events with different personalities and they are anxious to see which Hillary Clinton will show up in St. Clairsville.

Former President Bill Clinton is also scheduled to speak Friday at 8:15 p.m. in New Philadelphia as he campaigns for his wife in the presidential primary election. He previously campaigned in Steubenville for his wife.

Ohio's primary is next Tuesday.
