BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio -- Police in Bridgeport rushed to the scene after they got a call of a suspicious package, but it turned out to be just a game.Bridgeport police, fire crews, and a K-9 unit all arrived on scene near the Aetnaville Bridge on Monday night after a local business owner claimed he saw a man drop off a green box on a guardrail. The witness told police before the man got into his car he could hear something beeping in his pocket. When police got on scene, they found the green box."On the box, it said: caution, poisonous and hazardous, use with care," said Lt. Andy Klotz.Police saw the warnings, and immediately closed the road and called the state bomb squad. The witness also gave police the man's license plate number.Once officers contacted that driver, they found out the box wasn't what it seemed."We opened the box up," said Klotz. "And we found some toys and a note inside."The note had names and numbers on it, and officers said it ended up being part of a game called geo-cashing, which they said was like a scavenger hunt for adults."You get on the internet," said Klotz. And you can put in a coordinate in your GPS system, and you can find this box, and you can come and sign it."Once police found out there was no threat to the public, they called and cancelled the bomb squad. But Police Chief Steve Studenc told NEWS9 he is taking this incident very seriously. He said the person responsible will be charged with inducing panic.Studenc said he is interviewing the driver, and the case is still under investigation.
