Woman Shot, Killed In Hancock County

Authorities said a New Cumberland woman is shot to death inside her home and her boyfriend is accused of killing her.

Hancock County Sheriff Mike White said a single bullet to the head is what killed Shari Parish early Saturday morning.

White said when she was shot to death a small child around 3 years old was inside the home, but was unharmed.

The shooting happened inside an apartment on Morris Street in New Cumberland.

Deputies said Charles William Rice shot and killed Parish around midnight.

They said Rice tried to get neighbors to call medics after it happened, but she died at the scene.

The New Cumberland Police Department and the sheriff's office collected enough evidence to charge Rice with first-degree murder.

They are still working on the case.

White said the couple has a history of domestic violence and a small child who was inside the home during the shooting is staying with relatives.

An autopsy is being performed in Charleston.
