Teacher Suspended Due To Memo Sent To Students

Education officials in Marshall County have suspended a John Marshall High School teacher after she admitted to calling her students trailer trash."

The controversial remarks have some local parents upset. The teacher claims the comment was made because of stress.

She admitted to the school board that she sent a memo to her students saying: "If you want to act like trailer trash, I'll treat you like trailer trash."

The teacher, Nicole Shipman, is a horticulture teacher and advisor to "Future Farmers of America" and "Technology Students of America".

This information is according to school Superintendent Fred Renzella.

Renzella said, "Shipman took full responsibilty for what she did, and apologized".

He recommended she be suspended for two days with pay. However the board decided on 1 day with pay.

Renzella said, "Shipman made a mistake, she's paying her price, and they are moving forward".
