A New Athens woman has been indicted in connection with the hit-and-run death of Mary Carroll in St. Clairsville in April.

Amanda Hudok, 22, of Fairpoint-New Athens Road was indicted Thursday on a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide by the Belmont County Grand Jury.

Carroll, 23, who was killed when a car hit her on Newell Avenue near Route 9 in April.

Police said at the time of the accident the driver just kept going but they were able to identify the woman behind the wheel.

Police said that when they arrived on the scene, they found Carroll lying in the street.

She was rushed to the hospital but later died.

A close friend of Carroll’s said he witnessed the accident and was by her side, holding her hand, after it happened.

People who live near the accident scene said there are crashes on Newell Avenue frequently.
